If water were ink
Inspired by Jess Collins’ painting “If All the World Were Paper and All the Water Ink”, I wanted my piece, “If Water Were Ink” to have a message, as do Collins’ paintings about nuclear chemistry. I included only animals that are on the Endangered Species List. The animals emerge from the girl’s paintbrush. She represents the living world and is therefore the only colored figure in the piece. In their lack of color, the animals represent death and disappearance.
Discarded to Divine is an annual charity event hosted by the De Young Museum of San Francisco and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Participants are asked to use recycled materials provided by the St. Vincent de Paul Society to create works of art inspired by art on display at the De Young Museum to benefit the cause. All works were auctioned off for charity and displayed at the De Young Museum.
